The construction industry has been hit particularly hard by the crisis, with specific challenges around the shutdown of building projects likely to increase the number of disputes across a range of areas including insolvency, contract disputes and payment disputes.
Consequently, the demand for specialist legal expertise in construction and engineering is rising, despite and also because of the impact that Coronavirus is having on the industry. Furthermore, as the economy opens up and projects resume, contractors and employers may find themselves in a vastly different position to before lockdown.

Michael Gerard Solicitors work with clients in the construction and engineering industry on a range of issues including assistance with building disputes, drafting contracts, securing a debt, and adjudication and mediation services amongst others. Experienced leadership – Founding partner Michael Gerard is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. As a specialist in construction, engineering and contract law, he has over 25 years’ experience in the building industry. Michael is also a panel-registered adjudicator with the Royal Institution of British Architects and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators as well as vice-chair of the East Midlands branch of the Chartered Insitute of Arbitrators.
